About The Book

About the Joy for journey book

Do you find yourself rushing along the path of your life frustrated, unmotivated and seeking deeper meaning? Are you looking for inspiration, motivation, and renewal?

Joy for the Journey is a collection of thoughts, stories, and anecdotes that inspire and challenge readers to look at life from a different perspective. Joy for the Journey will provide you with a new sense of motivation and appreciation for life.

Sunflowers

Sunflowers have an interesting story. When they are young, they follow the path of the sun; when the sun can no longer be seen, they turn and face each other to gather energy and strength because they have not yet learned to harness and store the sun’s energy for cloudy days.

Here is the question for today, how much more could we accomplish if we, like the young sunflowers in our times of lack, uncertainty, or needing strength, turn toward each other instead of away isolating ourselves?

Here is the challenge for today; know you are not alone. Lean and depend on your source of spiritual strength, friends, and family, who have proven themselves to be true to share their energy and strength with you. To hold you up in a time of need, until you can harness the power of the sun, once again.

“Never be ashamed about being broken, because strength is nothing but pain that’s been repaired.”- Trent Shelton

What Our Readers Think

I have been blessed to be a recipient of Tamura's daily motivational messages! OMG! It has been a pure blessing! There were many days after reading her messages I was moved to tears because I whole heartily believed that God was speaking to me through Joy! So many of her messages hit home for me! The uniqueness of her messages are that they are relatable to anyone who may read them. Some are memories or moments shared from her life. Some are sayings that we have all heard throughout our lives that have more meaning than we realize! Thank you for blessing me with the opportunity to be a part of this special project of yours!

I've known Tamura for a long time now. I knew she had nuggets down on the inside but everyday nuggets. Man whew! It blesses my spirit every time I read them. Tamura's challenges and questions will have you thinking and feeling like you can face another day, if only for to see what she's got in her heart for the next meet up. Trust me you will feel just like we do -- empowered and uplifted. I have the real version but the book will have you feeling like you have a great friend.

Tamura Joy Gadson

Tamura J. Gadson

Tamura J. Gadson graduated from Walsh University with a B.A. in Organizational Development and Leadership. She has held several leadership positions related to people development, mentoring and coaching. Gadson began encouraging others with Joyful Moments, a recurring newsletter piece. This was the first time she shared her writing with others.

In 2019, a friend recommended that Gadson read the book Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes. After reading Gadson was inspired and challenged herself to commit to writing every day for a full year. Gadson fulfilled her challenge by texting encouraging words to family and friends. It was this idea and its positive reception that led Gadson to publish her first book, Joy for the Journey. Joy for the Journey combines two of Gadson’s great passions: motivating and encouraging others.

Gadson lives in Akron, Ohio and is the mother of three. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Rutgers University.
